Here we go, again, attempt number ???? at getting my lil blog started. I really do have a lot to blog about, it just takes time and even more so when I hate to post without pictures. Amanda over at Serenity Now is hosting a Decorating Dilemmas party and I thought this would be a great way to kick off the New Year and get some help with one of my rooms.
This is what you see when you first walk in my house, brace yourself its not the prettiest room in the world, but I am hoping that with a little help it will be much better. Currently it really doesn't have a function other than becoming a dumping ground when we walk through the door. The couch is listed on craigslist and hopefully will be out of the way really soon and the coffee table has since been painted and moved to the family room.
The goal is to turn the room into a functional dining room inexpensively. I have a dining room table that I found at a yard sale but it needs to be painted and I need to purchase chairs. Since its in my parents garage at the moment I dont have a picture but its basically a expresso stained rectangular table that seats six. I would love to hear your suggestions on table color. See that ugly brass light fixture, a can of spray paint will take care of that, but what color? As you can see the walls are plain jane white, so I am thinking about painting it the same color as the hall which is to the right of the couch (Dusty Trail by Olympic but mixed in Valspar), but a fun color would be nice as well maybe a robins egg blue.
Here is a picture of my living room to give you an idea of what my decor looks like, but the rooms are not visible from the other.
This is the most recent living room pic that I have (its another dilemma as well), but the tables have been painted black and the orange pillow is in the yard sale pile. The color scheme that I am going for for the downstairs area is green, blue, and brown. What do you think? Sound off I'd love to hear from you.
Hi, Ches!!! Writing you an email now, but I wanted to stop by and say hi here too. Great blog, I agree...it takes a lot of time to stay on top of blogging, and then I get so caught up reading other people's that I get sidetracked from working on mine:) Looks like you have just as many projects on your to do list as I do..lol! Love the idea of spray painting that chandelier...you could do an oil rubbed bronze or a silver. What about a muted shade of green for the walls?
ReplyDeleteLove the new set.
