40 bags in 40 days

Its amazing what you find when you start to declutter, look at all this stuff I found to get rid of, two bags for the Goodwill, and the plastic tote and thirtyone tote bag are being put aside for a yard sale this Spring...I also had a full bag of trash (not pictured). So far that's 10 bags towards my 40 bags in 40 days challenge. This decluttering has been great, I even found new art for my kitchen gallery wall through decluttering.

I decluttered all the drawers in the cabinet from the living room, cleaned out under my bed, cleaned out little mans dresser drawer and did a first sweep through my closet.  It feels so good to get this stuff out of the house, I just need to go ahead and set a date for my Yard Sale so that I don't have "stuff" laying around forever....

Since I wasn't completely ready to tackle the mess in my closet

I decided to take a small baby step and organize my scarfs
they previously lived bunched up together in a bin thrown on the floor, its a wonder I ever found one to wear

Enter this handy dandy scarf organizer and I felt like I was the organizing queeen, well not really
but I bet my scarfs feel better

Don't they look purty!!!!

I have no clue how to tackle the rest of the closet, because it really needs a nice organizing system like the ones from The Container Store, I just don't want to invest that kind of mulah in my house that I am hoping to sell this year. But then again I think about potential buyers and this closet would be a turn off to me.
Any suggestions on how to make this closet work better on the cheap?  My house has already loss value in this economy, so I am very picky about what I am willing to spend money on. For now I'm just enjoying my scarf organizer.

30 more bags to go to reach my goal of 40 bags in 40 days!!!!
What decluttering projects are you working on?

  1. You've made great progress! I get cheap bins from the dollar store to organize or the Target dollar section. I also love to use those 3M command hooks to hang hats, jewelry, belts, etc.

  2. You are making such good progress! That's a good idea to tackle one section of the closet at a time so it doesn't seem so overwhelming.

  3. Oh I wish I had such a walk-in closet like you. We are moving right now and like you I am decluttering a lot. It feels so good to have more room and more space and less things and clothes.

  5. Browsing digg.com I noticed your site bookmarked as: Blogger: Bee Focused.
I am assuming you bookmarked it yourself and wanted to ask if social book-marking
gets you a good deal of site visitors? I've been contemplating doing some bookmarking for a few of my sites but wasn't certain if it would yield any positive results.
    Thank you.

  7. Woah! I'm really digging the template/theme of this website. It's simple, yet effective.
A lot of times it's hard to get that "perfect balance" between user friendliness and visual appeal. I must say you have done a amazing job with this. Additionally, the blog loads very quick for me on Internet explorer. Excellent Blog!
